Evocative Objects

Photography, Installation

2015-2020

In my work, I explore themes of connection, loneliness, vulnerability, and failure. I am curious about magical thinking and the persistence of rituals that life may demand in order for us to keep hope. I reflect on the tension between intimacy and solitude, loneliness and togetherness, that can exist in a technological age where we are confronted with more connections but fewer conversations. The photographs and performative gestures represent the act of attempting to heal ourselves through a connection to nature and each other. They pay tribute to that action and the beauty that exists in the attempt, even when the ritual ultimately fails.
